#1298 closed volunteer attention (fixed)

A not yet accepted member can make a comment on another member

Description

I don't know if it is a big problem or not.

But today the following has happen, a new member just signup and put a bad comment on an already existing member (may be the comment is true, may be it is silly no idea).

The point is that if someone wants to attack someone else, it is very easy for him to signup with a completely fake profile (which could be detected at accepting phase) and to "play" to set bad comments on other people at random, or for personal purpose.

This said, if the bad guy has real motivation to hurt BW, he can signup with an apparently real profile, wait for beeing accepted, and then a bit later, log again and start to set his crazy comments.

Forbidding "Pending" or "NeedMore?" members to put comment will not solve the issue of crazy comments, it will just reduce it a bit (it will be less easy that "signup and start to comment")

Any opinion ?

Hmmm, this could potentially turn into problems with annoyed members that get kicked. I would probably not allow pending members to post comments. You need to take it to the wider circle of BW volunteers though.

  • Component changed from unknown to BW Profile

I would say only active members should be allowed to post comments.

Resolving due to age and lack of interest, in recent years.
