Reported by: TimLoal Owned by: TimLoal
Priority: major Milestone: unassigned
Component: BW Mail Keywords: bW Mail, bW Forums, bW Blogs, Text Editor, Design, Layout

Description

Reasons for the need of improvement

  1. Current editor breaks browser spell checkers and provides none of its own.
  2. Current editor looses content, during any page navigation, including during forum and blog post submit and send message, if the user has been logged out on the server.
  3. Current editor and or associated client-side or server-side code, add additional line spaces, on save, when copied from other environments ie office, open office or gmail. Need to correctly handle multiple end of line signatures.

Features to maintain.

  1. HTML formatting, including style, easy link and image insertion.

Desired Features

  1. improved browser spell checker support and inbuilt multi lingual spell checker.
  2. Auto-Save and Save as Draft for messages, forums and blogs
  3. Eazy-quotin, paste as quote

Optional, but Desirable

  1. To update the HTML, CSS and general layout and make cross device friendly pages for these three related pages.

  1. That could be solved in the tinyMCE settings. See https://gitorious.org/~mahouni/bewelcome/mahouni-rox/commit/0eed6efec85392ef125adcba01b98fb70428d78d
  2. At the moment there are longer Sessions (24h), so the log out from the server and lost data is prevented in most cases. For page navigation and reloads the autosave plugin could recover content. See ticket: #1690
  3. I think it's rather the server-side code adding the line spaces. (Either the html purifyer or the translation module...)
maybe check the following files, but the risk to break something is high.
  • lib/htmlpurifier/library/HTMLPurifier.php
  • modules/i18n/lib/words.lib.php

There's also the possibility of having a plaintext area that accepts various markup languages such as basic html, markdown, bbcode or wikiformating. With the possibility of shortcut button that add the markup to selected text.

I'll bring the topic to the attention of the forum crowd. This is for them after all.

That should be removed for blog as well. Problem is that people can do to much fancy stuff that breaks the layout (or is broken by it).

I close this ticket as TinyMCE works for most of the suggestion by now. If anything else should be addressed a new ticket should be raised.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
