#1861 new bug

group search should also search group descriptions

Reported by: guaka Owned by:
Priority: major Milestone: unassigned
Component: BW Group Keywords: groups, search

When I looked for "family" in it didn't should me the "families" group, which has the word "family" in its description. Consequently I suggested to create a new group!

Would be good to fix this by also going through the group descriptions.

without looking at the code it seems just a matter of changing 1 query, and this would avoid having to merge lots of groups later on, so if someone wants to this in Rox, do it in Rox...

I checked the code. I also thought would be easy but as the description is in another table with a references id in the groups table it's not so easy ;-)

This we need to change:

MTrad table holds the description

Additionally we need to sort exact matches to the beginning. If you search for 'The Hague' you get all groups with 'The' and 'Hague'. Instead we should search for 'The Hague' and add the results for 'Hague' and 'the' afterwards (In that order meaning more letters earlier in the result).

And to search for '%keyword%' in the groups calls for odd results as well. Search for 'The family guy' gives you all Netherlands groups as well as Thessaloniki. I don't think anywant would expect those results.

A member suggested to add keywords or tags to groups and to make them searchable. Would that be easier to implement?
