#1972 reopened bug

group settings for visibility of threads not working

Reported by: pablobd Owned by:

I set the visibility of threads of a group to be "group only" But people replying to threads still can make them "world" visible example:

Change History (6)

comment:1 Changed 6 years ago by mahouni

  • Resolution set to invalid
  • Status changed from new to closed

The setting works for new topics to this group.

Old threads will still have the old visibility options according to the first post in the thread.

Then how do I switch this thread to group only? or at least members only? This is not how it behaved when I tested the fix, this makes useless the change

  • Resolution invalid deleted
  • Status changed from closed to reopened

tuned in milestone 1.4. ticket #1849

If you have participated in a public group thread without being member of that group, you should still be able to see that thread, and to reply, edit your posts.

If there is a privacy problem or something similar, so that old threads should not be public anymore, it should be dealt by forum moderators.

This is a bug as it is currently presented: The admin sets the group to group only and nothing happens. Posts made before the change should still retain their original visibility, but new post should not override the setting, doing this makes the setting useless.

There's something funny going on related to this. Is this the same issue or different?

I was not a member of "bewelcomevolunteers", where there is a message "Organizing a BW Unconference" with visibility "world".

At latest forum activity page

  • I could not see that message when I'm logged in
  • I could see it when I was logged out
  • I had written some messages to there and I'm subscribed to follow it

Weird huh?
