Suggestion 26, approved in 2013 said: "We should introduce e-mail replies to requests without login. This will lower the barrier for a reply for hosts.

For safety reasons the communication channel would still be through the BeWelcome server but you don't have to log in first."

My suggestion is to set as reply-to for any message an unique code (example pm-4f8s5d2a87gu5y8c@…) that would enter the message in the corresponding thread with the corresponding sender.

A filter in email (pipe process) would decode the message owner and address and pass it to the normal message queue to be displayed on the personal message list and possibly forwarded via e-mail
