#266 closed bug (fixed)

Meta tags are not properly set

Reported by: jeanyves Owned by: jeanyves
Priority: critical Milestone: 0.1.2-outreach-bugfixing
Component: FrameWork Keywords: meta index page
Cc: steinwinde

In previous BW (old BW) meta tages were set according to current language and current page, this has been lost with the move to PT. It is very important to change it (meta must changed according to language used and according to current feature).

Nota : for main page when nobody is logged we probably need a static html page in each language (index_de.php / index_fr.php /index_en.php ....) this is to discuss a bit but may be to do quicly. IMHO it should be automatically generated page.

This is critical for beeing well referenced in google an in others

  • follow_up changed from none to test on alpha

I am moved a temporary fix in Alpha, this is to be tested (mainly on index php). If some errors occure (like variable $meta_description being visible as non initialized variable on Alpha, this fix will be to reconsider).

If not, may be it can be move to production in a few days (this is needed because currently production as very bad keywords to provide to google)

Nota about this fix : this is not an ideal solution : it use a default words (default_meta_description) for meta key description if variables $meta_description, is not set to another word the same occurs for $meta_keyword (default_meta_keyword) for meta key keyword

This is still something to improve

Please, also write down the revisions that belong to this ticket! Thanks..

revisions are 3550 on alpha and 3551 on test. Can someone else please test this! Just choose a language, crawl in the source code and make sure you find a translated meta-description and no bad looking variables there...

  • follow_up changed from test on alpha to release
  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

It's fixed and running on production already. (Revisions 3550+3551 were meant to fix another google problem. Instead look for revisions 3548 (trunk), 3564 (alpha), 3565 (production), 3571 (trunk). 3565 is the decisive one. We don't have a script yet, which publishes files commited to trunk automatically. But I checked the change of keywords and description meta tags on and I can see German translations.)
