#66 closed bug (fixed)

quicksearch doesn't work

Description

The quicksearch on startpage doesn't work properly. IMO a user, who isn't logged in, shouldn't see any profiles of users, who didn't provide explicit allowances to publish their profiles in public. IMO the search shouldn't change its method, after the first search result is displayed; the user of the search doesn't expect the search to change it's method. Three bugs:

  1. There are profiles visible, which shouldn't be visible at all. The user admin didn't allow for public visibility, but parts of his profile is in fact visible.
  1. The parts, which are visible, are just garbage. Links are shown in the profile, which aren't working; long lists of useless strings are shown; etc.
  1. After submitting my first search on the startpage, suddenly the search works on the basis of other search algorithms. At least I believe so. First search is done by quicksearch.php, next search is done by findpeople.php. But the user doesn't expect it to be like this, because she won't read HTML :)

As an example look at the search for "admin":

Change History (2)

  • Owner set to matrixpoint

comment:2 Changed 10 years ago by matrixpoint

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

I moved quicksearch into the platformPT. Also, I made some other changes for cleaner operation, such as limiting the size of the profile summary displayed.

The old BW quicksearch is using findpeople.php now (globetrotter_tt has been working on it). Eventually, that will be phased out.

There is still an unresolved issue: how to handle organization information in the quicksearch. I'm working with Jean-Yves on that, but it's not a bug at this point.
