Description

Currently the forum provides structuring based on location and tags. More info on ForumImprovements

We need one additional way, lets call it category.

  • Categories should provide a fixed structure not modifiable by the user himself.
  • It should allow subcategories.
  • A post should only be in one category only.
  • a category could contain posts and subcategories
  • categories should be displayed or hidden from the forum front page

Examples:

  • groups > Spain > Barcelona
  • groups > volunteers
  • feature improvements > membersearch

I think this ticket is not needed. Categories and subcategories already exist in our forum. We have to define them though. On test.bewelcome.org no category is defined. I propose to work on a admin-interface where we can add, edit, delete categories and tags from a webinterface without using phpmyadmin or such.

Have to correct myself: We have "subboards" but no subcategories but actually it should be easy to add this functionality.

This should be part of the general adding of categories that will also work for groups

not critical any more, priority can be raised again if someone actually feels like improving this
