Windows instructions from anu's blog post

    v30 v31
    2323=== Windows ===
    25 We're working on a one-file installer, that includes WAMP. You will be able to just unzip the file, launch a batch file, and off you go. It will come with read-only access to the repository, but you can send patches to developers with write access or request write access.
     25Instructions from [ Anu's blog post].
    27 (TODO: Verify this process; also, is more up to date?)
     27Here's a step-by-step list to get you up and running within an hour (scrap that, more like 10 minutes if it all works out as it should):
    29  1. Download the file
     29 1. Download [ the package from SourceForge] (we have it also [ in our SVN repository], but some people have complained it’s not optimal to get from there)
     30 2. Unzip the package to C:\wamp (it needs to go there due the current Apache setup of the package, feel free to tweak around in case you’d prefer to place it someplace else or indeed have your own Windows webdev setup running)
     31 3. Shut down Skype if you have it running (Skype by default takes over port 80 which is also used by Apache, not so nice. This could be circumvented by tweaking our Apache config however might result in other needs to tweak further on, so begone Skype!). You can restart Skype after starting WAMP and getting the site running.
     32 4. Run C:\WAMP\wampmanager.exe
     33 5. Left click the wampmanager icon in the taskbar (bottom right)
     34      * Apache -> install service
     35      * MySQL -> install service
     36 6. Start all services (the package is in German, so this would do it: Alle services Starten (or so). This glitch should be mended by the next repack)
     37 7. Go to http://localhost - you should see a page by WAMP manager. Click on the !BeWelcome link and you should see the !BeWelcome site running locally :) (if not, contact our mailing list to trouble-shoot)
     38 8. You can log in by:
     39      * admin/password (for "site god" privileges)
     40      * accepter/password (for signup-accepter role)
     41      * hkroger/password (for normal user role)
     42 9. Play around with the code, check out some [ Trac tasks on the BeVolunteer developer home page] and get familiar with things such as repository location and instructions, database schema update issues, test / alpha server info etc etc
    31  2. Unzip this file in C:\wamp (It has to be exactly this path, unless you want to twiddle with the Apache configuration.)
    32   * Maybe someone can add what exactly needs to be changed, if you want a different path?
    34  3. edit C:\wamp\wampmanager.ini
    35   * Find the section named [Menu.Left]
    36   * In this section, there are some file system paths that are supposed to point to your browser. You need to check if they are correct, and modify them if necessary. Otherwise, some items in the menu of WAMP in the system tray will not work ("Could not execute menu item").
    38  4. Run any *.bat files, until you see the WAMP icon in the system tray, saying "both services running".
    39   There are four of them that look promising:
    40   * C:\wamp\install_mysql_service.bat
    41   * C:\wamp\install_services.bat
    42   * C:\wamp\install_services_auto.bat
    43   * C:\wamp\launch_wampserver.bat
    44   Anyways, guaka (and lemonhead as well) can get the WAMP tray icon.
    46  5. Left-click on the WAMP icon, and try "phpMyAdmin" and "localhost" in the menu.
    48  6. Rename htdocs/ to and modify the configuration settings
    49   (FUTURE: ''This should be done for you in the .zip file.'')
    51 Someone needs to explain point 6 please !!! I don't find any "htdocs" folder with this file. -- lemonhead
    53  7. How do I get the database running? This should be a part of these instructions!
